Ok so I want one. I just think it's neat.

It gives off evil Gamecube vibes. Nice.

Still haven't seen one produce any steam. 0/10 False Advertising

With Portal's 20th anniversary coming up in 2027, maybe they should re-skin it to be some sort of orange box...

If valve actually marketed this to the general public this has the change to disrupt and permanently alter the console market in a way not seen since the launch of the Original Playstation.

The steamdeck can already run every PS5 & Xbox series X game- And that's a handheld.
A gamecube sized computer, booting steam OS/Big picture that has Steam sales & the ability to still access de-listed games- something not possible on any console?

Gaben, please MARKET THIS

And lets not forget that if some one has the capability to browse a file manager, every Nintendo game becomes emulatable with many having online functionality.
No more paying $80 for a 20 year of bare boned port.

Same goes for installing none-steam games. Valve has never implemented ecosystem restrictions this can just as easily be a GoG, MAME or Sega machine.

Valve really is the poster child as to why private corporations can be a force for good, they just require good ethical management.
Something that a public corporation with its competing shareholders is fundamentally capable of achieving due to conflict of interests.

I already have a Steam Deck so I don't have much use for this. The Steam Controller is interesting though, and depending on how much it costs I might pick it up.

The thing that makes me the most excited about this slate of new Valve hardware isn't something they explicitly announced but seems to be heavily alluded to: the Steam Machine can stream Steam games to the Steam Frame, and the Steam Frame itself is ARM-based but runs SteamOS, which itself is based on Arch Linux with a KDE desktop environment. Hopefully, this all means that SteamVR is finally, finally coming to Linux.
Given Valve's heavy focus on Linux as of late, I was kind of surprised that SteamVR didn't work on Linux without a lot of finagling. As an active VRChat player, one of the only reasons I haven't made the jump from Windows 11 to Linux on my main desktop is simply because of how difficult VR was to get working on Linux.

You know you need it, It's good for you

If they price it around $500 to $600 it'll be great. I'm disappointed that almost everything in it is last gen tech.
No next gen SD Card Slot.
No USB 4.
Being stuck at 8GB Video Memory is a huge issue.
It's a 1080p Gaming PC from 2019 in a very sleek small package.

I'm really interested in this. I've been debating building a living room PC to use, as I mainly just plug in my Steam Deck, which often struggles for more intensive games, especially at the larger resolution.

It really depends on price though. From what I've read it's going to be priced fairly high, certainly higher than either an Xbox or PS5. I've never gotten into VR, but if the Machine and the Frame is priced similarly, maybe it's time to start looking into getting one of those instead.

Accurate. I was a backer for that shit.

It amazes me that they got them into retail stores.
I never backed it, but I bought one new from a retail store for $50. And then I found another one this year at a Goodwill for $8. Used it for a good number of years as a TV emulator box. It was good for that.
