PC The Steam Machine lives!!

The device looks like an Xbox. This is probably Valve's answer to Microsoft's Xbox.

Half Life 3 as a launch title is a possibility.

First time hearing about this, but I like what I see so far! Gonna look into this.

Pure sexo design.
Doubt I can afford one but I'm definitely interested and curious.

I want to get off Windows so I'm interested in the GabeCube

I don't know why people are going loony over it. Yes, it looks neat, but at the end of the day, it's just a computer with SteamOS 3 on it. For what they will probably charge you for it, you could buy a good used gaming PC or possibly build one, and just wait for SteamOS 3 to come out and use it. It would probably be far cheaper.

And you would probably have money left over. I like VALVe, I honestly do. But I just don't care anymore about System A or System this.

I belive this is more about being an entry level device for casual, couch gamers. Sure you can buy a better computer, but this is smaller, fits well into the living room and probably doesn't make as much noise as a tower rig.

Fair enough, I'll give you that, but a lot of mini PCs are fairly powerful nowadays and good enough to play most games as well. However, I see your point about it being preconfigured as a video game console first. You have to forgive me, I'm used to throwing my own OS on a PC for what I want it to do, and forget not everyone can or wants to do that

Doubtful. It's marketed as a game console.

You will have a hard time buying a PC & the new controller, meeting the same price/performance specs, if this thing retails for something like 500 USD.

I would say that some people don't use their computers for gaming, but in this specific instance that's quite paradoxical because most people who have a Steam library probably (definitely) already play games on their computers.

At the end of the day though I guess it just boils down to the simple fact that some people prefer playing games on their TV, and some people don't (I don't really have a preference myself, it comes down to the game usually). Personally I'm mainly interested because it's a new thing so it'll be fun to follow. I didn't care about the Steam Deck but I'm interested in consoles and new/different spins on them.

Agreed. Aside from the Steam Deck, a computer is kind of a requirement for Steam. I'm sure there are other handhelds you can put SteamOS on. I don't know what they are, but I'm sure there are some.

Right see, I tend to play on a television, but I also use the same PC to watch media.
YouTube, movies, anime, etc. So, I personally prefer the TV screen. Oddly enough, the gaming tower I built is rarely, if ever, used.

But I am so burnt out on AAA this and AAA that, I have gone back to playing old DOS and XP era games that I enjoy

I already have both Alienware Steam Machines with Steam Controllers, and the Steam Deck.

I'm going to burn my wallet and hoard this crap as soon as Lord Gaben's minions allow it.

8GB VRAM is wild. UE5 games won't be pretty on this thing.
Yeah, that seems to be most peoples' concerns right now.
I've been out of the PC spec landscape for years now so it's all Greek to me, but even I reacted to that lol

I’m probably going to do the same. I bought the Steam Deck when it came out, and it quickly became my main gaming device.
Knowing that this is going to be a way beefier version of what I already love is just too enticing to pass up.

8GB of VRAM and Zen3. Valve is taking the fight to developers, time to optimize.
