Haven't seen a thread about this gem of anime/manga.
So how many of you guys are watching the currently on-going Season 3? I just finished the premiere episode and it didn't disappointed at all.

Loved when Anya spilled her ice cream in her mouth and Yor, in the attempt of cleaning, she almost choked her LMAO

NEVER! Im gonna tell everybody about that messed up part where... Im kidding.... Ive only downloaded season 1 and 2 and still havent finished watching those yet.. the stuff I have seen is really good tho, so I guess I need to get season 3.. Good Luck!.... also I see that pic of Lina from Slayers, love that show!

Gotta be honest: I was REALLY into it for a while, but then it complete lost me amid severe deviations from the plot (some of which were several episodes long) and the team's inability to balance its three leads, causing one of them to be overshadowed by the other two and then awkwardly thrusted into the spotlight to make up for it, resulting on a wreck of non-existent pacing.

There are some really interesting ideas at play here, too, so it's not even easy to dismiss as a wasted opportunity:

The kids not understanding why anyone would want to defect from their war-bound nation and a rogue journalist fabricating stories about the state of said nation are brilliant touches.

I'm probably going to drop it entirely.

I was reading it regularly and then I fell off like a year or so ago? Been meaning to get back to it, I really liked it at the time... it was around the time period when Spy Family had a collab with Puzzle & Dragons, so whenever that was.

I wish the Anya dream toilet scene from the movie was never considered. ::peek
It was still an ok movie with some cool moments (beside the "slap in the face because other character is baka" japanese comedy that I really can't stand nowadays) but jesus, that scene...

I mean: it it supposed to be mostly comedy, slice of life and a bit of action. It has some deep themes but it's mostly a silly series, let's face it.

I am deeply in love with the series, I watched the first two seasons, saw the movie in theaters, played the Anya game on Switch, and now watching the third season while reading the new manga chapters. While it is silly, it is still wholesome.

Saw S3 episode 2 (aka episode 39). Kinda cringed on how it started, but thankfully Anya carried it as always.

Also finally hype to see more of the past of whatever-Loid's-real-name-is. I suppose it confirms that's his real face and we won't have any Lupin III shenanigans.

I was initially really into the anime but once it turned it an overly ridiculous and formulaic sitcom that wastes far too much screen time on Anya and never moves the plot or the character relationships forward in any way, I completely lost interest. The show just seems stuck in stasis.

I wish there was more focus on the spy and assassin stuff instead of grade school nonsense with Anya and over the top anime comedy tropes.

I don't know why the show is so popular

The series was definitely never meant to be serious at all. If you expected mostly that then you did right to drop it.
And about the last statement: show's popular because it's funny, that's why. Of course, it's not perfect and it does have some annoying anime comedy tropes I dislike as well (tbh only the embarassed slap in the faces from Yor and his brother's sister complex ::huhsonic), but with Anya it makes mostly anything gold (except that scene from the movie...which it's not canonical, I HOPE, so it's all good lol).

Don't like it at all, watched S1, bored and I find Anya far too annoying.

Does nothing with a somewhat interesting world, the concept is whatever and the fact all 3 leads + dog has either out there job or superpower just stretches the focus too thin, lame comedy and boring slice of life.

Or how the mind reading only triggers when plot convenient.

At least I can hate watch Oshi No Ko (I have hated it since the start, and do think that what the author did to piss off the normies was based af), this one just bores me too much to even do that.

It took 2 seasons for Yor to finally do anything besides that annoying trope in anime where kissing is a crazy out of this world predicament. I still kind of like it though

To me, the spy/assassin stuff seems pointless when 90% of the focus is on Anya and stupid comedy. It's such a waste. I also hate how unrealistic it is that Yor's professional life doesn't take a mental and emotional toll on her. It really stretches believability a LOT.

Also, I eventually got tired of how inept and stupid Anya is. It stops being cute after a while and just gets annoying. Like who really would want a kid that is that stupid?

The brother/sister stuff with Yor's creepy brother is really off putting too. I forgot to mention that.

Loid and Yor are supposed to be these perfect protagonists that excels on their real jobs (with Loid having the upper hand on basically everything while Yor being...uh, a disaster on the kitchen and having her strength slip, I guess). Don't forget: this is still anime lol. It's all supposed to be entertainment just like videogames.

I don't really get the second statement. You wanted Anya to be another perfect boring tropey where she excels on everything?
It's a fresh breath of air finally having a kid acting her age on the more realistic side. Not to mention they still give her esper powers (again, just to remind this is still anime) to compensate. It's about being funny rather than cute imo. And for me it works great.

I'm fully with you. Especially since this trope involves a goddamn adult woman ffs.

The new episode was very emotional. And definitely what most of you guys actually wanted :loldog
