For context, it's a picture from Resident evil 3 (1999), spoiler alert: it's where Nemesis attacks you all of the sudden.
Back when I was a kid, these slow-poke zombies were already scaring me, and this game set me up to meet this monstrosity?
It's like a father pushing his son, on a bike, down the hill to teach him to drive on his first day.
Anyway, what's your story?

This place in Silent Hill 2!
wasn't too deep into horror games back then so it was early days exploration of the genre for me.
anyways, the apartments creeped me out so bad, i just simply couldn't push through further, i didn't like the darkness, narrow corridors, weird sounds. The worst was the top floor, with the heavy breathing down the hallways.

Fatal Frame 2. I remember there's this one jumpscare where the ghost of a little boy quickly shows up in a window if you got close and used your camera next to it. That spooked me real good.
Man, I literally just started the first one. Hoping to get through 1 & 2 before the remake. Holy shit i haven't been this anxious/scared in a long frakking time

This, this freaking moment, I actually dropped my controller and started crying. I was home alone, sick, late at night, the game lulls you into this sense of security cos by this point you've already gone thru this section a couple times and most likely killed all the zombies, and then does this. I actually shut down my PS1 and went to sleep scared lmao

The first time this shit happened in your game

idk if spook me is the right word but very little me got nightmare creatures 2 and i remember very clearly just watching the intro music and feeling incredibly off, did a little of the start followed by a huge explosion, i went blank, turned the console off and went to my dad with the case in hand "i dont think im old enough to handle this" lmao hahaha

The last game to spook me years ago was RE 8 with the House Beneviento section once it turned to P.T. Most horror games don't get to me but when it comes to psychological horror, that's what always gets me most and that section had me spooked with the fetus throughout the section and never knowing how it'll turn out if I left. A honorable mention would go to Heisenberg's factory as body horror disturbs me the most out of anything so the section was just a lot of unnerved chills at most and didn't help I watched Frankenstein's Army after cause of the plagiarism allegations which kept me up the night after I finished it at night. Good game though!

The only game that managed to really scare me is Silent Hill 4. Almost all of the game is horror AF in the real sense and in lots of ways. My guys became a doctor in psychology just to be able to scare in tons of ways lolol.

The first Aliens vs Predator in PC
The facehuggers in Marine's campaign was a nightmare.

Truly terrifying moments that made me scream.
You're talking about the 2000 game right? I remember my dad getting pissed at me scream jump scare obscenities at the computer because of the Face hugger scaring the shit out of me

The "Fatal Frame" Trilogy from ps2, I remember my uncle playing the 3rd game with the home theater connected to the TV, you could hear the ghosts whispering in the distance and it felt so real.

Then when I was in high school a friend lent me the first 2 games and I had a worse time at night, I always felt like someone was watching me from behind (It didn't help that my friend said he started seeing strange things when he played for the first time, one of those cases was a human figure of light in his backyard at 3am)

My ex used to make me play Silent Hill 4: The Room when I'd come over. She would fall asleep but I'd still play until like 2 or 3 AM and then walk home and it was genuinely putting me in such a paranoid headspace. I'd be thinking about the imagery and hauntings in the game and start freaking myself out in the dark empty neighborhood lol

Zero/Fatal Frame and Siren games are real scary to the point they could make any healthy person have a heart attack.

But Biohazard/Resident Evil 1 is definitely one of the worst introduction to horror games for me. Everything about it really could unsettle you deeply it's a shame the sequels could never reach the same peak. Same with Dino Crisis.

Lavander town unironically make me wary of playing Pokemon, and i am serious, the music was creepy already in the town, but the damn Tower's high pitched music was as if the cart itself was crying in fear and/or sorrow, not helped that i actually played a Spanish version so i could read all the mentions of death and grieving

One of the most spooked I've ever been while playing, it wasn't that the game was scary. I was pretty young, and my parents stepped out for a little while. I think I remember them going to vote, but I don't know for sure. It was night, and I was playing Ecco, and this was blaring.

After a few minutes, the eerie music got to me, and I was on edge until my parents got back.

The prison section in Silent Hill 2 always scared the crap out of me. The one section where you hear footsteps that seem to be coming towards you will always spike my heart rate. (I haven't played the remake yet, but I can not wait to get to this section)

The whole game itself wasn't particuarily very spooky, but the Puppet Master boss from Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow made me feel very, very unnerved as I was fighting it. I do NOT like the way that thing's mouth opens and closes, makes me feel nervous.
