SMT: Strange Journey … my forbidden knowledge on demons! It’s all yours!

An early Hallow’s Eve my fellow devils, demons and everything in-between… Strange Journey is - or well has been my number one favorite in the SMT franchise- and thee likes to entertain himself by decking out some demons with ALL the wonderful skills I can grasp my talons on!

And… the fun part about Strange Journey is that you “Trade” your demons via passwords- meaning anyone who can input it, can use it! Will you lend an ear and listen to my forbidden demonic knowledge? MWAHAHAHA HHOOOT HOOT! *cough* … blast my throat.

I WILL SAY.. my grinding will never fully be finished, and the apps I have allow for +2 stat points to be gained when leaving up. Mayhaps in the future- thy will send a level 99 Halphas?

But yes!!! Let them land a hand on your missions within the Schwarzwelt!

Strange journey is such a good game even if I never been a fan of first person dungeon crawlers.

The silly thing is the only reason im no fan of such game is I wanna see my charters on screens and not only portraits. Such a silly reason.

VALID comment honeslty… as someone who views the demons as valued teammates, I’d always appreciate being able to see and interact with them more. I do decree that the little profile pictures at the top of the screen does enough for me- though I’d sorta wish in the newer games you could have them perhaps follow your character around?

IT’s probably a shocker to not a soul, that I’m a HUGE fan of the demon haunts in SMT5:V, it’s essentially a little hangout area where you can talk and give gifts to your demons! Soooooooooo DAMN FUN.

Strange Journey was my first SMT, and I found it incredibly tough. To be fair, I didn't understand the systems properly. I should replay it soon.

Which is odd because I actually like the SNES SMT games and Etrian Odyssey. Something about SJ is just exhausting to me though.

SJ is easily the best first person dungeon crawler of all time. Especially if you're playing blind, the dungeon layouts are absolutely brutal, and HUGE. Still think it's the best SMT game, although I do love IV as well.

If i had to choose which is the best from SMT SJ vs Nocturne, honestly i cant choose one of them. SJ is my favorite because like no other, the concept of story of this game is superb. This is like Mass Effect 2 suicide mission, which is my kind of theme, but with turn based gameplay and dang, the gameplay is solid IMO. I wish there are more rpg like this theme again in the future. The MC design also kind of similar with my style : )) i wish i had more time to play games now, i need to play this game again. 13/10 stars from me

Tis fair! My first time thou definitely took ages on certain dungeons- but I’m glad i stuck with the game at the end!

Agreed heartily!!! For me, there’s something most immersive in the Schwarzwelt not being tied to a pre-existing location on earth, therefor the dungeons can be SUPER creative- and hOOOT! That just warms thee bitter heart.

Man, it took me MONTHS to beat this beast, easly the toughest of the DRPG ones, yep it has some QOL like the Monster Compendium and the Passwords letting you have the demon you want/need as long as you have enough rupees Macca and overall being less precise with Negotiation doesn't negate the game will chew you and spit you if you bring the wrong demons and in the bosses case doesn't fight them by their "Rules", i beat it with Broken fusions and having to look online for the Dragoon (AKA the "I win" button) and the final boss STILL wiped me due to their MA attack, bravo on braving the horrors of the Schwarzwelt
