This is good news, It's been a while since the last Silent Hill movie came out. It was really time for something new I look forward to it.

I'm not going to check it out as it's not exactly my thing but I hope that you enjoy it. I heard relatively positive things about the first Silent Hill movie though, wasn't it made by someone who actually played and loved the games?

I'm sure it will be entertaining and honestly I don't care if it's good or not now I am satisfied with everything.

I remember kind of liking the very first Silent Hill film, but I watched it on a whim once as a teenager a thousand years ago.

… Yeah, Ganse did a good job capturing some of the aesthetic in the first movie, but that’s about it. I don’t see him pulling off 2. I’ll watch it though.

Really like the first movie. The acting and story aren't great, but the atmosphere and look are really solid. The second movie is total slop though. Coin toss on whether this is going to be worth watching.

stoked to see Christoph Gans returning to helm this one. I loved his Silent Hill adaptation from 2006, wonderful atmosphere and gnarly effects work, love the mid-00's digital edge it has. excited to see what comes!

The first sequel (Silent Hill: Revelation 2012) was so bad, so so Bad. Honestly i do not have high expectations. Having the same team as the first one (Which was fun, but not a masterpiece) elevates it a little. But, being a sequel so many years after the fact. this feels to me like a very cynical project while the first one was definitely made because of the creators love of the IP. But who knows? I through Blooper team was gonna butcher the remake but people really liked it(I Will only play it if and when it gets to the price of a sandwich). And there has been a lot of optimism with the franchise lately, I like that they experimenting with a bunch of things with it. Even if it doesn't always pans out (Silent Hill: The Short Message)
Also:
Anyone saw His Christophe Gans's Beauty and the Beast 2014? Was it better than the Emma Watson one? I bet so

Trying to go in with a open mind with this one, which is hard to do when i'm a SH Boomer, BUT at least i'm not absolutely hating what I saw from that trailer.

Same feels. I could enjoy the first silent hill movie even if it also changed a lot of stuff, and had some neat stuff of it's own. It is clear this one will be like that, just with adapting Silent Hill 2, and the neat just has to out weight the cringe.

Absolutely,
It's kind of how i reflect and treat SH2 Remake & I love that remake btw, this is coming from someone who obsesses over the OG PS2 Game. I see it as an additional/alternate way to enjoy the game. If i feel like either or, both are at my dispoal with respective strengths and weaknesses.
Comparison? RE2 to RE2 Remake, both great games in their own right, offer different things. happy to enjoy both whenever.

I am interested enough to maybe see this at the theatre, It is A version/take on SH2 regardless.
If i were to go in with the mindset of 'Oh the actor doesn't look 100% like James from the game' or 'oh Maria's tattoo is in the wrong place' 'Pyramid Head's head looks off'
I think its pretty closed minded to expect that level of perfection into live action. again view it as an alternative piece.

I wouldn't recommend it based on what we have discussed in the past Lod, There is quite a bit of sensitive subject matter in which out of respect to you, will not state.

BomWell, firstly, I'm very sensitive to movies and loud noises, which is why I have issues with them; I seek shelter.The noise from horror movies... horror movies aren't my favorite genre.

If they do not dodge from the worst implied things from the story of the game, it will not be easy. Worst is the story makes you imagine it, without showing much.
