Samurai Pizza la cats are getting a new video game.

It's confirmed by Gematsu that a new Samurai Pizza Cats is getting a new video game coming to all major platforms especially on Switch. The game will be a 2D sidescrolling/RPG (Goemon in a sense) with actual 2D animation from the show. The game will arrive in 2026.

And yes, the original cast of both English and Japanese Dub will reprise their roles.

OK, I didn't have the return of the Samurai Pizza Cats on my 2025 bingo card but hey, here we are. I remember watching this show when I was a kid and I loved it! The team that handled the English dub were abridging anime before it was cool, long before the days of LittleKuriboh and Team Four Star. I already have this game wish listed on Steam and I am eagerly awaiting a release date.

Really hope the game will be as good as the show was, also is just me or does the game give of major Legend of the Mystical Ninja/Ganabara Goemon vibes. Not that I', complaining as I loved those games back in the day.

The show actually does have a Mystical Ninja/Ganbare Goemon vibe. The setting takes place in the Edo like era with a modern setting, samurai/ninjas fighting giant robots, and a Power Ranger Megazord like robot to defeat another giant robot, both have a character named Omitsu. And I kid you not, in the N64 Mystical Ninja game, Goemon actually says Teyandee. A catchphrase Yattarou/Speedy says in the series.

Well, I'm not a huge fan of the show but I liked the setting and the characters.

Wasn't it changed by Saban in the west? It's still a humour/self-aware toku parody (akin to TMNT for superheroes).

I loved the Famicom game myself.


I'm glad to see non pixel art non 3D stuff.
