An updated version of the Nintendo 64 emulator Project64 has been made and released to the public by Edwin Bruce Shankle. Here it is!
He also says:
Have fun with a regression free version of Project64 with a guide on setting up texture packs, mass patching ROMhacks, and most importantly, knowing that the features actually work. 🙂

Cool.

And honestly I'm surprised Danny err i mean @Heinzu didn't make this thread

do translation patches not crash in this version?

that's a genuine problem ive been having. fan translated japanese roms crash on boot for me
As far as I know, he has said it's been specifically geared toward being compatible with hacks and hasn't come across any problems. If anything comes up, do us all a favor and let him know, he'll probably release an update 😅

Maybe you need to add the entries manually to the RDB?
sorry i have no idea what you are talking about, could you explain please?

sure ill download the new version at some point in the near future and try it then

Ah, no problem. Basically the emulator has a file that is a database of the games it supports and the settings it should use. It's no uncommon that hacks require you to edit that file manually for the game to be visible on the ROM load dialogue and perform correctly.

Let me show you an example:

[4F1E88F7-4A5A3F96-C:4A]
Good Name=Wonder Project J2 [T]
Status=Compatible
32bit=Yes
Counter Factor=1
RDRAM Size=4

This is the entry in my RDB for Wonder Project J2, the fan translated version.

Edit: I don't see the point of using this. I can't even map my controller without it crashing. I have PJ 64 Dev version 4.0 and will continue to use that.

*boots up Harvest Moon 64*
*still sees the roof of the dog house and the dog bowl flicker in and out of existence*
*shuts off the game*

There is a workaround, but I couldn't tell ya if it works for Harvest Moon.

"Unofficial Update"

I think this should be its own fork.
