Nintendo Direct Thoughts?

Nintendo is like a crazy EX you hate but for some reason you keep getting news about them and it´s just as disappointing and you kind of miss when you started dating and they where so wonderful but some how down the line they lost their sanity.

So today's Nintendo Direct or "Partner's Sword Direct" was um...okay.

Not many mainline Nintendo Switch 2 exclusives other than Ocarina of Time Remake, Xenoblade Genesis, DK Challenge, Switch Sports Resort, more info on Rhythm Heaven Fever, Splatoon Raiders and Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave, Xenoblade 1 2 & 3 Switch 2 updates, Star Fox again. And the rest were dark souls like games and games with swords. I don't know, for Switch 2's 1st year anniversary, this was bad. For any Kingdom Hearts fans who's excited for IV, that's fine, but this was the direct I wasn't hoping for.

A Touhou remake, a new Atelier, and a Muramasa rerelease are enough to make it a 10/10. 2 of these were beyond unexpected to see. Muramasa had problems with Marvelous for years, preventing Vanillaware from doing anything and now it’s the first of their games on PC. Wild
And then Touhou 6, a game with lost source code and no accessible version for over 20 years got a remake

Hope it gets out of Japan.

It would be cool if that OoT remake got the features that were considered in development for the N64 DD edition of it, such as permanent footsteps on the desert, random map generation of the temples for every playthrough, downloadable dungeon maps online, etc.

It looked so cool.

I'm glad that Square Enix went through their trash and decided to save Brave Exvius! (Now save War of the Visions and NieR Reincarnation, damn it!)

Kingdom Hearts 4 was hype and I want to play it, not much else to say.

Ocarina of Time remake, not surprised but I'm sure it'll be awesome and if it is, then a Majora's Mask remake may follow it, or Twilight Princess, or... anything, really. Stupid remake era.

Why is the Ocarina of Time remake a thing? There's already a remake on the 3DS. Wouldn't it be easier to port that with some changes to accommodate a different console than doing another remake from scratch?

Honestly, Kingdom Hearts 4, Xenoblade Genesis, Deltarune, and Muramasa were the best showing in the direct for me.

Ocarina of Time Remake was a nice bonus as well. It wasn't surprising since it was leaked couple months ago but it's really nice to get it. Still I wish we got some that was more cool then another remake of OoT.

Man, i can't wait for people to disregard OG Ocarina of Time as garbage when the remake comes out, or simply call it inferior, because that's the popular thing to do these days!

And i don't wanna see a reply from anyone here (looking at you @BrawlMan) telling me that isn't the case for RE4, RE3, Silent Hill, FF7 and many others these days, don't reply to me telling me that isn't the case, that the popular opinion these days is that the OG's are unplayable garbage because that's how most people "think" these days.

You know, instead of enjoying both and being honest with ourselves that both experiences have their merits.

The 3DS version was a 3D graphical improvement with Quality of Life features the N64 original lacked on such as pausing to equip and un-equip the iron boots. And taking OOT on the go back than was a huge deal before emulated consoles came in with better emulators and better improved rom hacks. Nintendo wants to remake OOT again for players to get a deeper lore into the story.

I was hoping something big for Zelda's 40th anniversary, but Nintendo is still milking Super Mario's 40th anniversary with more Mario Galaxy Movie Merch and recent Mario spinoffs which I still don't mind.

Apparently the 3DS version has been criticised for the art style changes (especially the lighting and Link's design as well as the removal of the blood in the Shadow Temple).

Nintendo wants to remake OOT again for players to get a deeper lore into the story.

I'm not sure if it will be a good idea to retcon or add more lore and story in an already established Zelda game (the GBA port of ALTTP changed wise men into sages because of how OoT changed them but it was more like a lore correction than a retcon).

Also I don't see how "deep" Zelda could get.

The Kingdom Hearts 4 looks weird with the realistic models to me. The franchise is all about whimsical fantasy, and then insert visually realistic teenager characters in it, like a teenager Sora? The artstyle serms to lean more on the realism too. It's a weird choice. Makes me think of the weird updates to franchises to look more mature that went wrong...

To be fair to Kingdom Hearts IV, Sora is meant to be in the Kingdom Hearts version of our world based off when we last see him. I imagine the style will change when he visits different worlds as well.

I don't even care that much about Disney stuff yet I always felt like KH had to keep that fantasy aspect to make it unique.

I'm not sure about KHIV being set in our world...

my guess is that its the 40th anniversary of Zelda this year and maybe they felt a full on remake of the most famous one would fit the occasion

ill admit, i found links new design to be pretty jarring. but given that it seems to be pre-rendered, ill just wait and see what the game looks like in-engine
