Most fun 2D Zelda Rom Hack

Looking for rom hack recommendations for 2D Zelda games. I am not into the whole make a game difficult that you lose your hair and sanity. More looking for a fun adventure that might reignite my wonder for exploring new lands/areas in a familiar formula. I am saying 2d Zelda in general but I know most are going to be A Link to the Past rom hacks which I'm still fine with, but my favorite is Link's Awakening. Guess I should also say overhead 2D Zelda games since I have no interest in Zelda 2 or if some mad lad made rom hacks of the cd-i philips games :P

The Zelda 2 Redux hack is really good. It removes everything tedious and annoying about the game and turns it into a solid Zelda title. It's one of the Zelda hacks I always recommend.

Does it remove the 2d side scrolling parts with overhead 2d action? Because that is the part I dislike the most of Zelda 2 :p

I know everyone says it's too hard, but Parallel Worlds chills out a lot after you finally get the sword. If you don't like that, Conker's High Rule Tail is also really good.

Personally, if I was going to recommend any 2D Zelda it would be a fangame for ZeldaClassic v1.93b called "Megaman Dr. Wily's Revenge Director's Cut".

Amazing fangame, classic Zelda gameplay with complicated and interesting dungeons that doesn't rely on doing too much backtracking, or puzzles/challenges that are so hard you'll pull your hair out (until maybe the last dungeon). Mostly fair, with a ton of stuff to find, provides a fresh, new challenge while maintaining an interesting flow, and an epic soundtrack consisting of various tribute music from other classic games such as Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, and DOOM.
