This is a tough question to answer because while alternatives to this forum do exist, they come with their own baggage.
There’s JoyFreak, which sounds excellent at first, until you realize the last message posted there was in 2023, meaning the forum is practically abandoned by its own community.
There’s PushSquare, a seeming decent site at first, especially given it’s one of the last standing bbcode forums that don’t run on XenForo, but it’s got some mild issues with its nationalist-centric community and its users’ tendency to get into petty fights.
Then there’s RetroAchievements forums but your mileage may vary there. You may find decent English speaking folks and you may find incredibly rude folks who can barely speak your language of choice. It’s all luck. It’s also entirely all luck how much the staff would be willing to help you, or act snarky and stand-offish and aloof. All a roll of a dice.
I think this community that we have has a little bit of everything. There’s very little comprise that you need to make.
