In this thread we tell about experiences that sparked a little piece of history on the internet.

I don't know how often is for mod requests to get fulfilled, but this idea of mine actually got made. I was way back in, let me check... holy shit, 2011!

The idea of this mod was to replace the abusable /tp command by a physical teleport structure that wasn't completely trivial to build and use.

This mod is obsolete nowadays, and unfortunately I never got it working at the time, but hey, it's there. Thank you Gravity for making this. I hope people made use of it.

This tutorial video is made by someone else. The dev made a longer one.

Here's the link to it, describing it in more detail

The only real mark I left on the internet was that I was one of the richest users on Gaia Online around 2007 or so. I had a bunch of early, desired items that appreciated in value a bunch, and I ended up being worth billions.
I quit the site many years ago, and once checked in out of curiosity to find it had all been stripped from my account, so I was likely hacked.

I was part of the team that brought back (and eventually was given control over) the Official Redwall Abbey Forums.

The Redwall Abbey Company had left them to rot after a server error had wiped years upon years of posts from the board, so I decided to skip "protocol" by e-mailing the webmaster directly. Mr S was an user just like the rest of us and seemed really troubled by the amount of red tape that needed to be bypassed in order to get all those irreplaceable memories back, but I didn't need to do much in order to convince him, and he spent a marathoning session getting all ready to re-launch... But the forum was so broken that it didn't even had a GUI yet. Then another admin and I decided to jerry-rig a method to merge the official board and its community-run replacement by using an untested method largely of our own making. This took several weeks of night-long backups and trial runs (which included merging user accounts, both old and new, as well as original threads and their "revival" versions). We spent nearly a year troubleshooting that site, but it still stands as proof of what we could accomplish as a community with no borders nor ego, just untamed passion.

Some sites no longer exist. I remember the purge of the original WHOOKOS site for example. People were scrambling to save all of their posted artwork.

I never really wrote anything of literary value, not an article, short story or anything….nada except some essays and themed compositions way back during my schooldays. And to think that the last one I wrote one is more than 2 decades. But for some reason I tried out to become one of the writers of this forum. I wasn’t really confident about the piece that I submitted nor that I expecting to make the cut. Days past till I get the confirmation that I got in. Best feeling ever!

Nothing Significant but I'd say that mine are a few uploads of saves on Nexus and Gamefaqs but that's still not worth any praise. What I remember most was reaching 2k Posts on TheIsoZone. Also helped a few dudes with fixes on FGR and others on the high seas.::booshy

Nothing major...I helped hundreds of people best the Final Boss in Elden Ring? Not to the same extent as LetMeSoloHer, but I gave my fair share of helping hands.

Irl I've helped alot of people secure jobs in an area which has quite high unemployment rates.

Most of it is uninteresting, posts and many many comments and also my website. I guess the most interesting thing I have posted is that small animation on how the Satellaview came to be, for it's 30th birthday. I have more significant ways of leaving my mark on the internet that I am working on right now (and would hopefully finish one day).
I really want to leave something nice in the internet in return of teaching me how to create atuff.

I've not really left much of a mark.
I've made a crappy webcomic for the past decade. But I doubt it's left an impression on anyone.

I might have helped influence a thing or two on the AGS game engine. I remember being the biggest proponent of mismatched pixels, so when a scaling bug was fixed in it, I was one of the few people advocating for an option to enable the old way. But that might have still been implemented, even without me being a loudmouth.

Oh, there is one thing though. I found two missing episodes of the Ace Ventura cartoon series. Two episodes that according to the internet, didn't even exist! (They weren't even categorized as missing. Every resource that listed every episode of the series, didn't include those two episodes.)
I gave them to some guy who ran a Youtube channel that collected missing episodes of old cartoon shows. Considering the Internet Archive is a popular thing now, I'll have to check to see if they're up on there yet. Who knows, maybe there's some more missing episodes that's been found since.

on a dark note:
ok so... i was a very well known user on the newgrounds forums. even though there was no reason for me to be as well known as i was on there. i was probably the most well known forum user there for a few years. but this led to a lot of harassment and stalking and shit that i could not handle as someone who was not medicated at the time. and because i was "famous" i would get shunned for calling these people out, even tho they were going as far as mocking me for my sexual abuse. because i was seen as "famous" i was supposed to turn the other cheek. but i didnt. and so all the drama that i never asked for ended up getting blamed on me. i will fully admit im not perfect, and of course you're only hearing one side of this story. but there is legit still people stalking me and emailing me from that website.

on a light-ish note:
ive been on many different youtube channels since 2011.
ive made somewhere near 100 albums. i'd say about 30 are lost media. because i didnt upload them to youtube and my bandcamp pages, which is the only place i kept my albums at the time, were all deleted without warning because i was associated with a musician named Connor Betts, who ended up being an active shooter in Dayton, Ohio.

on a much lighter note:
i made a fangame for a youtuber named lost pause and he played it back in the day

nowadays:
i still make music, but also gaming videos and ytps

so yeah my digital footprint is fucked beyond repair lmao

Interesting. I’ve a somewhat similar “dark note” story that makes me occasionally wonder if I’ve left a positive impact at all.
(Oh well, if I discouraged someone from playing KH, I probably did).

There is this game called Toribash and I was the first person from my country who played that game for about 4 years before my fellow countrymen showed up.

5 years ago, Sega held a seminar regarding their history in gamindustri while celebrating their 60th anniversary, they had a test (available in both English and Japanese) and the applicants were graded from 0 to 60, less than 1% of 20000s something applicants got more than 55 points, I got 58. The result is buried in my email but I still have it.

Now for a subversion, photo of me do not exist in the internet, I never had my photo taken, even in my school year book and my ID, my photo in my country's online citizenship registry is empty.

i created a semi popular rpg maker game a long time ago. very silly stuff. but people enjoyed it and for that i am happy.

The only marks i left are the ones here of my drawings and some doujins i translated since no one wanted too.

I’m fairly certain I was one of the users who helped boost interest in Newgrounds finally adding a comic format for art uploads (a long stream of several images for the same post, like pages). I remember asking Tom about the feature in a DM, and he replied thanking me for the ”great suggestion”, then a while later it was a reality.

I’ve also unknowingly created a few meme images due to me partaking in /v/ drawthreads a lot like a decade ago. Blew my mind when I saw them circulating years later. Nothing special though, just stupid drawings, I don’t want to take credit for a meme because that kind of goes against the idea of them.

Wait what? May I ask what your newgrounds name was? I might know you. I already came across someone from newgrounds here before lol

i wonder if anyone else shares my want to remain anonymous in regard to the silly internet things i did when i was a teenaged perzors

I dont pride it this but u think the only marks ive made are skid marks on my underwear and internet racism
