Nothing wrong with staying inside so long as everything's taken care of. I usually just crash at my desk all night after work/errands/chores myself.

Sometimes jokes are good-natured and are just a way to poke someone you care about.
Sometimes jokes are not good-natured and people are just ignorant and/or mean.
Either way, they shouldnt be taken seriously if you can help it.
