"I'm going to make my own video game...It's going to be the best...It's going to have many selectable characters,300 levels, many powers,a touching story,it's going to be 400hrs long, gigantic bosses,it's going to be a mix of metroidvania/puzzle/STG and there will also be ninjas, robots,Neko girls, floating brains, huggable aliens, mutant dogs that throw bees out of their mouth..."
It's a fact that almost all of us have dreamed of creating a video game at some point, right?
I have so many game ideas. I doubt I will ever make half of then during my life, principally the more spectacular ones, but I am at least trying to make the simpler ones.
I still dream about it, proof of that is how everytime a random idea for a game or story comes to my mind I inmediately write it down on my phone. There won't be neko girls tho.
I'm working on a Fire Emblem Romhack. Someday I'll finish it, that's what I keep telling myself. But it is a lot of work when I'm doing all the coding and artwork.

You ever heard of DarkRisingGirl? She made a pretty nonsensical, but nonetheless popular and impactful Pokemon hack, and said that it was the most grueling task of her life.

i'd probably just end up making a dungeon crawler, specifically designed to play and look best on a small crt. i think setting limits, and focusing on character design, and a banging ost would be my favorite aspects.
I always have ideas for sure, but I have no idea how to code or do anything that would actually be able to make the game and don't want to just be 'an ideas guy', as usually no one likes having an ideas guy.
I'd love to make a classic styled beat 'em up of OC super hero characters, being fun and light hearted but taking itself seriously and combining the best aspects of the classics. I do a lot of 'fan game' ideas that I'll throw into a Google file in one day just to get some creative mental exercise out of it, I brainstormed a Hitman style Punisher game once and a Dragon Age multiplayer ARPG.
I was a junior contributor on this project, but I will never understand why it got shelved. We were making good progress, most of the really hard stuff was already done and then... nothing.
My understanding is that a playable demo and every single asset were backed up but will never be released to "respect the team". Yes, because burying half a year of hard work so no one will ever see it is beyond respectful ?
Making a game is a backcrushing work, that's why before you begin to make one you need to commit to complete it or else you're just going to waste your time. Also any kind of help from friends or advice is going to greatly help to complete it no matter how small it is.
I was also going to participate in the project of some friends in Japan for a visual novel.
However, the project did not progress because one of the girls, the one who would be in charge of the art, decided to give up illustration for a while, another one had major depressive problems and the last person preferred to dedicate herself to an "honorable job" as her parents demanded.
I... I was just going to help out with some adjustments to the story...
And it all came to nothing ??

There are quite a few options if you have a suitable environment to work in.
By the way, everything that surrounds the world of games in RPGMaker is something that fascinates me.
There are people who tell a lot of interesting things there...??

A friend of mine always said that the important thing is that all those ideas keep your spirit awake and active... And that's good, even if they can't all come true ?
When I was in high school I used to tinkering with RPG Maker, spent most of my time made a JRPG. The game was incomplete but I decided to share it with my classmates. Their reaction was very amusing since the playable characters were based on my classmate. The game has a lot jokes and 4th wall breaking so a lot my friends liked it.
That was 12 years ago, the game is still incomplete and I haven't open RPG Maker in a decade. But last week one of my classmate contacted me and the very first thing he said was:
"Dude, I still played your game!"
Ahh, I felt so happy when he said that. My friend still treasured my stupid game
I decided I'm going to make a new game, a visual novel about the memory of my high school days as a form tribute for my classmate.

Imagining and dreaming something is quite easy...?
So I really admire people who undertake such a titanic task?

I've long dreamt of making a megaman legends-like but with more of a focus on the city and "slice of life" type activities. Still have the dungeons, just less of a focus on them. There's a lot of animators who do low poly futuristic cities that look super close to what I want it to look like essentially
