So what are some of the Horror games you know those who are supposed to be so scary or where considered scary back then, that you played
and just though well that is that its not really maybe somewhat annoying but scary ?..no way.

For me its Silent Hill for the Ps1 the fog was annoying but that is about it I was not scared for a sec in the game and I am not that brave but I was just scared of it not even of the Enemies.

So do you have any similar experiences ?

Anything multiplayer; it's nearly impossible for me to be scared in a game if I can just talk to someone not in the game. But then, I'm not much of a multiplayer anyway.

Resident Evil (the original one and the remake of the original one). I like the games, but outside of some jump scares, it's just not scary. Which, to be honest, is one of the reasons I like them. I love a good horror game, but the cheesy/not scary B movie vibe is what made classic RE so awesome.

The FEAR games. I dunno, I can see how they were supposed to be scary, it just didn't work for me.

Oh ya I almost forgot Resident Evil is considered a Horror game right ::sailor-embarrassed
and I agree good games but they are just not scary more scary are the rare safe points you have in the first game as I hate having to replay a large junk of the game.
And to be honest neither is Resident Evil 2 nor 3 scary for me Zombie is not equal scary for me
does Doom 1 and Doom 2 count as Horror games if they are not scary either for non of the Doom titles for me great games but not scary at all.

Closest thing to a horror Doom game is the original version of Doom 3, but that game is so clunky that it's more likely to enrage you than scare you.
Yeah its more annoying for the game mechanic and less scary ;)
but hey the updated version where you can use your handgun and a flashlight is underrated in my opinion not scary though but good.

I was playing with my friend some horror game and he died. Said he died to freaking Freddy Fazbear, after he started using soundpad to play sounds from fnaf. I was terrified cuz im something of a scaredy cat lmao.

Tho the first horror game(s) were Penumbra. The first game especially cuz you can defend yourself in that game, which kinda makes that game not that scary.

Yeah give a American a good old Handgun and nothing is scary anymore

This is why games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill are not scary as the Monsters got to taste some sweet old freedom freshly served from the barrel of my gun.

But jokes aside giving you a useful weapon in a game decreases the fear factor by well a lot.

In penumbra using weapons is ass. You gotta first hold left mouse button, and then drag your mouse to simulate swinging the weapon.

All fun and games until you run out of ammo or meet the "unkillable" monster like Mister G and Nemesis XD.

I remember not wanting to play Resident Evil 4 because I once saw a single clip of a regenerator and got scared. Imagine my disappointment after I finally built up courage to play the game, finding the first regenerator at the very end of the game.

Not even sure if they're supposed to be horror games 99% of the time, but my answer is "anything with zombies in it".

Basically if a "horror" game mostly features zombies, they're going to be their as cannon fodder, not as a meaningfully scary antagonist.

Resident Evil, Dino Crisis (if that is considered), Silent Hill 2

However, due to personal experiences, Silent Hill 1 had been an acute phobia for me, especially radio static. I blame that guy who played it while setting up the ambiance

Yeah that is right those get quite annoying especially if the last save is well a while back ::sailor-embarrassed
and hey the Silent Hill 1 gunplay is not that fun either but its manageable but getting damaged because of it can be quite annoying especially because of the flying fucks and dogs in the game.

Remember the archaic mechanic for guns in Resident Evil 1 or if you did not pick the woman and had because of that only a weak ass knife as a weapon. There is a reason why I always pick Jill Valentine over Chris Redfield in hat game.

Yeah, Chris forgot his gun back at the station XD. Also why does he have 2 less slots in his inventor? Did he forgot about extra pouches or got some pockets torn up or smth?

Oh yes especially as he is supposed to have that damn gun its even showcased in his Intro video or how ya wanna call it.
But in fact he became the secret hard mode of the game.

As much as I loved playing it: Fatal Frame. I spent so much time seething about the puzzles that I forgot it was a horror game. The ghosts became more of an annoyance than anything scary...

Anything that's NOT Resident Evil 3, honestly.

Everything else fails to make me feel stalked, trapped and doomed.

The last games that were scary to me were Siren, Clocktower 3, Fatal Frame, and IllBleed, but I was around 10 when I played those. When I was 6 I got a demo disc that included Hitman 2 from a magazine and I was so scared I couldn't leave the mountain from where you start I think the first mission to assassinate the don and I was just sniping guards. After a while one of the guards saw the don dead on his balcony where he would do some golf swings and brought a flower arrangement onto the balcony, but I haven't been able to find any proof that someone could replicate it even though I am absolutely sure it happened.

Nowadays I can play or watch anything deemed scary and not be scared, but I still enjoy the atmosphere and whatnot.
