I saw it several years ago on Netflix. This guy, I think he's a college student, gets guilted by his mom into taking care of his sick uncle who lives in the desert. When he gets to his house the uncle isn't too pleased and tells him to leave but won't tell him why. But the guy's mom insists that he stays. The uncle has to carry around an oxygen tank and never really leaves the house. Strange stuff starts happening and the main character meets a strange girl in the desert who often appears out of nowhere. Eventually he finds out what's going on.

If anyone knows please help me. I appreciate any help I can get. ::chocobo-wave

His uncle is actually his father, who ran over a girl while driving his pregnant wife to the hospital. The girl's mother cursed them so the uncle gave his son to his sister to raise to protect him. She resented this and sent the main character back to his real father because she was hoping the curse would kill him. Or that's as much as I can remember. It's probably pretty accurate.

Fairlane Road?

(I'm fairly certain this is it despite never seeing it, after reading a plot synopsis. "horror movie in the desert sick uncle" was the search term that got me there)
