Hi all,

Has anyone experienced playing a ps2 rom on Anbernic rg405v (which uses aethersx2) where they can't proceed past a certain level, and how did they fix it?

For me the problem is getting past level 2 of Gradius, when I finish that level (stage 5) it reverts back to the save state menu instead of level 3.

I've downloaded all country versions of that rom and then different versions of that country rom and it makes no difference

Solutions other than buying a ps2 with gradius v would be appreciated. Thanks!

Perhaps a level select might be what you're looking for? That way you can skip the problematic level. Found this online that you could try:

Code:
// Gradius V (NTSC-U)
// File generated by GameHacking.org

Import the codes under the Patch Codes menu in AetherSX2 to use these. Untested myself, but hopefully this helps. Note that these use the NTSC version of the game.

Hi, thanks- I'm really not tech-savvy. How do I access the Patch Codes menu in AetherSX2 on the Anbernic RG405v? And do I copy the complete version of your message? And how do I know this won't have adverse affects on anything else on my games console?

By NTSC version you mean USA rom? Because the Europe version has an option to view in NTSC

I don't own an Anbernic device, but you should find "Patch Codes" within the emulator's drop-down menu when you're booted into a game. It's near where you can Save State, Load State, Switch Discs, and Exit the game. Just scroll down and you should see it from there.

do I copy the complete version of your message?
Yes. I can give you what I sent as a .txt file in this message if that makes it easier on your end. Use the txt file instead of copying what I sent earlier, albeit their contents are identical.

Select "Add Patch" after selecting "Patch Codes".

Then select "Import from file" - there, select the file that I'm including in this message.

Don't worry if you see this message, you just haven't enabled the codes yet:

Go back to "Patch Codes", and press "Edit Codes" to check that the codes were imported correctly, then you can press "Enable Codes", which should apply the patch to the game. I'd reset after enabling to see if it shows a level select of some sort. Again, I haven't tested the code, so I do apologize if it doesn't come up in some way.

Codes won't do anything to your system. Worst case scenario, the game might crash with the codes enabled. To disable the codes, you disable them the same way you enable them.

By NTSC version you mean USA rom?
Yep, the USA rom is what I meant by NTSC. Europe is usually referred to as the PAL version of a game.

Hi folks , found the solution on another forum.

it's actually a challenge issue built into the game!

'level select' is only practice mode. To advance in the game you have to start from level 1 by pressing 'start game' and get as far as possible on the 3 credits given.

No wonder freeplay is so important!

Anyway hope this helps anyone who loves gradius v like I do
