Here you can post about old obscure handhelds, but also about new portables that you discover.
You can post your own handhelds or anything related to handhelds.
It's a place to share collections, ideas, tips, tricks and secrets.

At the moment, I am loving my Retroid Pocket 5 and Odin2 Portal. I finally got a Switch emulator (Eden) working on the Portal after a lot of trial and error and frustration and it was worth it. I had a lot of fun trying different games on it and most of them ran beautifully.

I've recently being finding some of my old Vita games and its kind of got me wanting to pick that up and play around with it too. I have one that is hacked so it can do a lot of fun stuff.

I really love handhelds, they are becoming my preferred way of playing things, though I will still turn on the TV occasionally when I am playing something that I really want to see on a big screen.

I always loved handhelds more than home consoles: only one I've had was ps2.
Handhelds, I got original ds, 3ds, psp, psvita, all of them non-modded and with lots of physical games.
Some years ago I slowly sold ds (when getting 3ds) and then Vita, thinking I already played all the best... then, last year, I got hit by nostalgia and decided to buy a used Vita again. This time I modded it, I played some other Vita titles and put there lots of psp games and also some ps1. Same with 3ds, after eshop closure I decided to try and so I have it full of 3ds and ds titles.
These are my FAVS; I tried Steam Deck (used one), but I don't know, I found it really heavy as handheld and good for me I've been able to sold it shortly after, getting back the money I spent. Also, I have so many games already in backlog, didn't really need to add pc games, also for emulation I only need my pc that can run the ps2 one, so no real need for Steam Deck either.

My MSI CLAW A1M 135H is the cheapest @350 tweakingsGaminglaptop replacement just disable the 10 all low cores for best gaming perf.
Running on Quad P Cores is the secret sause and disable npu, noby want to understand for gaming perf.

Really digging my Anbernic, but everytime I play a NGPC game, it reminds me of how much I miss that systems clicky thumb stick.

QueThis console, which all Brazilians had to disagree with, was rich.

I personally think that the AYN Thor could be the one that convinces many people to jump on the wagon of new handhelds since it replicates the 3DS experience that a lot of people wanted for years, now with a proper polished product without the many atrocious design errors of past attempts, while also having power to play PS2/Gamecube. Just another all in one package with plenty of possible interesting utility with the second screen

If I didn't already have a steam deck on my sight I would pick this definitely.

I was actually looking into an emulation handheld for a family member earlier this year. All they wanted was something that would play Gameboy and Gameboy Advance games, which is admittedly a pretty low bar to clear.

It was tough to find something at first, since I wanted to give them a handheld that was of decent build quality but not at too high of a cost. I'm glad that someone made that emulation handheld comparison spreadsheet, because it seems like there's a new emulation handheld released every week and they can be difficult to keep track of.

I ended up getting them an Anbernic RG35XXSP with muOS loaded on it and they love it. My relative isn't really knowledgeable about the emulation scene, so they were blown away at the fact that something looked like a GBA SP but could play more than just Gameboy and Gameboy Advance games. They especially loved the fact that the Gameboy emulator on it had a fast forward button. It definitely helps when grinding in Pokemon.

As for myself, I was always into Nintendo handhelds. I got everything from the Gameboy to the Switch. I haven't bought a Switch 2 yet, and I probably won't for a while. I'd say the DS is my favourite of the bunch. It definitely got the most amount of playtime out of any other handheld I've owned (yes, even more than my Switch).

I used to have a flashcart for the DS, which I loaded emulators on for the Gameboy, NES, SNES, and Genesis. That was the first time that I got a little taste of what it's like to have games from multiple consoles onto a small handheld that weren't weird ports. The compatibility of the SNES and Genesis emulators was very mixed, but that didn't matter to me too much. Just the fact that those games ran at all on my DS was amazing! I remember JEnesisDS and how exciting it was when the creator got the sound working. Remember when the creator of JEnesisDS was hired by SEGA to make that Sonic Classic Collection on the DS? Ah, those were the days...

I wanted to buy this portable console to play DS.

snes, mega drive, ps1, psp and vita (+homebrew) - i see no reason to move in from the vita any tie soon...
