There are three types of gamers: ones who prefer the series be played in chronological order, ones who play on order of release, and ones who just don't care and play whatever. I prefer chronological, like I will play Metal Gear Solid 3 before I play the other ones, but some series with a crazy amount of games (like Ace Combat and Armored Core) I will skip the chronology and just jump into the latest release after watching a lore dump of the games on Youtube.

How do you prefer to tackle games?

I think it totally depends on the games! I played Devil May Cry in chronological order and had a blast! Sure I probably wasn't as good at three as I should've been, but I had enough fun behind and ahead of me that when I got to two it wasn't as big of a deal as the angriest nerds on the internet tried to make me think it would be.

Release order, I much rather experience the game's mechanical/graphical evolution than care about the story chronological order; don't give a shit.

PrimeiroFirstly, I don't know how the game order works; I don't understand anything about games with Roman numerals, and I have the memory of a betta fish. But secondly, I love any kind of game...

Yes, my OCD rarely allows me to play them non-sequentially, even if the story has nothing to do with the original game.

I got lucky with a few, like Fallout 3, and Morrowind, Persona 4. 😅

Sim, meu TOC raramente me permite jogá-los fora de ordem, mesmo que a história não tenha nada a ver com o jogo original.

Tive sorte com alguns, como Fallout 3, Morrowind e Persona 4.😅
EHey my friend, how are you doing? I have my concentration and stress problems, so I can't play games if I don't understand how they work.

I like to do it when I replay franchises (Metal Gear for example) but when is the first time I always play in release order, mostly because of the mecanics that later appears in other entries.

release order always. Story progression is not nearly as important as gameplay progression. These games where released in this order for a reason. Jumping in on a random entry is fine, sometimes it just works out that way, but ideally you'd want to play in order.

I go by chronologically order and were released by year. But it all depends on gameplay.

I like to play games by order of release. For some series i can see chronological order not being so bad. Like say for instance you wanted to play the Batman Arkham games. Most of the games were released in the exact same generation with knight being just the generation right after.

But say you want to play Castlevania, you would start off playing Lament of Innocence on ps2, then either Legends on the original GB (if thats considered canon again, im not sure) Or Castlevania 3: Draculas Curse on NES. I just find that jarring personally.
