Do you listen to albums from beginning to end? (Without pauses or skipping songs)

Mostly no, that is to say that in general I don't like all the songs of any singer or group, I can like 5 or 7 songs of an album and not all the others.

However several years ago I used to play random music in the background when I played games and sure I listened to complete albums but without paying much attention XD

I do, that's the primary way I've learned how to listen to music. Though I enjoy listening to recommendations or pre-made lists gifted to me by friends.

It totally depends on the album for me. If I enjoy the whole album I'll happily listen through the whole thing, but I also listen to a lot of prog which has lots of concept albums where listening through the whole thing is kind of intended in another way since the whole record tends to tell a complete story.
But I usually just listen to playlists I make of music I enjoy, but those two ways of listening aren't like exclusive. It just depends on the album, and what I feel like doing at that time.

My favorite album is probably Operation Mindcrime, and I tend to listen to the whole record straight through, but I always skip one song because I think it's way weaker than the rest of the album.

I used to always do it, because I'd have a booklet to read the lyrics, and then I'd just play albums while I was drawing or whatever. A lot of Commodore 64 games didn't have music, so I got into the habit of playing music while gaming too, so even with newer games I'll play with the music for awhile and then play with it down while I listen to something else. I find if I have the ability to shuffle songs, I spend more time doing that than listening to the music I supposedly like. So I'm good just putting an album on and going.

If it is Led Zeppelin I consume it like french fries once I start so I have to be careful.
Other than that it depends, mood, time and so.

I do ONLY if I really like the album or if its my first time listening to it, if not, then I´ll just skip directly to the songs that I like the most from that album or just listen to playlists on spotify.

Yeah, generally. I'll listen to it front to back on repeat until I know which songs I like and which ones I'd rather skip. If I only like a handful of tracks on an album, I'll put them in a playlist and stop listening to the album altogether.

I think this is quite common, the generation that used to throw a record on and just leave albums play, albums were usually made to be listened from start ton finish before the CD was made.

Then with that 70+ minute run time, albums started to really get padded out with songs, so many albums often have a few good tracks but also one or two stinkers. This generally gave me a habit of at least skipping one or two tracks, some times I'd only like 2 or 3 tracks on a whole album.

Our attention spans are shorter too, I ain't got time for your 7 minute instrumental intro with indigenous instruments being whacked off a wall while someone gargles mouthwash with reverb, to a monk chanting.

I can't take music seriously enough to enjoy a full long album these days, though that said, there's the odd full album worth listening to that comes out now and then that I don't skip tracks on, whole thing is fire. Those are rare though

Be it a new album you have never listened before, or something you love.

I do, I've been doing it since I was a middle schooler but seems like I'm a weirdo for doing that.
thats the best way to do it but it depends how im listening to music if its in the cars its usally a free for all i just do whatever.
Meatloaf Bat out of Hell is one that i always gotta listen to from tobegining to end whenever i put it on every second of that album is classic. same thing with Jim Steinmans solo album Bad For Good.
Expo Expo by M-flo is another one that i always enjoy from beginning to end

When I was younger I used to listen to artists based on singles, but the problem was their albums tended to be a few good songs plus loads of filler. Entice the buyer with a catchy song and package it with junk. Hey, it's a good business strategy. Can't blame them.

Nowadays I've gotten away from the mainsteam format and into more obscure genres. I prefer to listen to entire albums if I have the time. A full ~40 minute experience is more meaningful to me. But I'm also much more knowledgable about music production compared to back then. I can better appreciate what a band is going for.

yeah, i do. i mostly listen to albums rather than playlists now tbh

Honestly... it varies wildly. Using Gorillaz as a example, some of their albums I never skip a single track, like Plastic Beach and The Now-Now, but with some other albums I'm going to skip some songs because I'm not a huge fan. I like 99% of Cracker Island, but I always skip Controllah e.e

Tears Roll Down (Greatest Hits 82-92) by Tears for Fears is a album that I never skipped a song and know how to sing all of them by heart. Although is not an album and only a collection, I'm not affraid to say this compilation changed my life
