Do many people here use RetroAchievements?

That reminds me of the Nexusmod debacle.
I forgot they existed despite their numerous censorship and mod takedowns (looking at you spiderman). They even had the audacity to make a post to tell people to delete their accounts if they didn't approve of their blatant 1984 move (i deleted mine for that reason). Though lads don't forget that here too, there are things we can and can't say. Someone's post here was forcefully edited and warned because he said that eSports made everyone into a r-word even if it was just to make a point, not targeting anyone (at least I think that's what happened). Even the fact that I have to say word instead of the thing itself.

That's terror, terror built into the system.::whatashame

Holy hell, I can understand the disdain about the person who created the book from some but those games aren't the books... Things haven't improved since Hogwarts Legacy?

And maybe say the R-Word. As a treat

Feels like I'm back in the early 2000's yeah.

I think it's harder because the code strings are different (like why NA cheat codes don't work for the PAL version of a game).
Yes, I discovered this a while ago by doing some Google research, but anyway, it would have been a great idea to have a team dedicated to NTSC trophies and another one for PAL ones.

IIrc they went on blusky and bitched, the english/ retro gaming community in general isn't that big in the grand scheme of things there are only a handful of websites everyone uses

You can make sets for pretty much anything, or could, but now they're even making comments about how maybe Harry Potter games should no longer have sets.

I had no idea there was such drama in the community. I barely pay attention to the discord or forums on RA and just play my games. Pokémon Clover can be crass, but its literally a shitpost romhack so idk why anyone would take it seriously.

The whole Harry Potter debacle is stupid too imo. I remember when several streamers were harassed for just playing the game. Like wtf is that lol

I don't care about 4chan beyond some of the memes but yeah, that's a shitpost romhack and they just took it a bit too seriously.

What bothers me is the "retroactive" aspect of that.

How does that website work? How do they keep track? Because most games I own are on the original consoles and about 30% on PC.

I use RetroAchievements because playing on an emulator in hardcore mode reminds me what it's like to actually play a game. It's nice to play a game as intended with save points and not constantly spamming save states.

Yeah i like RA but some of the achievement sets on certain games are stupidly impossible
and alot of good games still have no achievements at all

I really want to, but some of the achievements there are stupid hard just for the sake of being hard.
yeah i've learned that just playing the game normally and picking up random achievements as you go is a better approach than trying to 100% the game and tick them off one at a time like an OCD maniac
but it depends on the game, some have better sets than others

I've thought about it.

On one hand, it does breath some extra life into old games, giving you challenges to do and explore new ways to play that I likely hadn't thought of.
On the other, I've been playing for achievements all the way back during the 360 era so I don't know if I wanna pressure myself to add the extra challenges and completions.

I use it softcore mode only though and I don't take it to serious and as far as game tracking goes I use How Long to Beat and Backloggd for that, it is still fun to trophy hunt sometimes but I don't have to have achievements to enjoy a game.
