I actually tried to build a competitive team back on ORAS. It was fun but too time consuming.

I'm not really into Digimon as a game but looking back, Digimon had awesome animes (Adventure, Zero Two, Tamers and Frontier) and not only were cool but tackled very real issues

The better question: Medabots or Monster Rancher?

Medabots will forever be my favorite "kid with their magical pet" type of anime

Yeah, from what I've seen of the anime, it's surprisingly good. I can't see pokemon ever tackling something like THIS:

Digimon also tackled some touchy subjects for kids. Sora's difficult relationship with her mother, Izzy being adopted, Matt and TK's divorced parents and Joe's anxieties due to pressure over his studies.

Don't even get me started on Tames.
