If you were from that time period, it actually wasn't that bad for home systems, all things considered.
Believe me, I played it back then, didn't think much of it in the past either. Some of the backgrounds are impressive (Buoh's, Vagnard's) but that's it.

Mostly familiar with the SNES version. In fact, I didn't even know about this version until WAY later.

I owned a copy of "Power Moves', the SNES version of this game. Bought it at a flea market back in the early 90s for about $5. This was back before scalpers and resellers knew what they had, thanks to the internet. I miss being able to find deals like that.

At any rate, I would go through the game continuously fighting as Joe to level up his stats by fighting the same people over and over again, until I could make it to Ranker and pretty much beat him in five or six hits lmao. Keep in mind that in doing so made absolutely no difference in how the game ended. Nothing special for doing it lol. Just had that childhood dedication and obsession that I lack nowadays.

This was one of the Worst fighting Games I've ever played in my life, but that american cover art was derpy comedy gold.lol

The ony good thing about this trainwreck mess of a game was, that it at least had a cool RPG-like Level up system where you can give your character growth points after winning fights, but other than that, this game just felt Broken in every Conceivable
way possible, bad controls, lousy COllision Detection, awful Special Moves which are difficult to pull off, horrible Frames of animation/frame drops.

and frankly, the super nintendo version of this wasn't much better either.

But,i will say though, the best chracter in this game was that Chun-li Ripoff named Reayon.lol

But yes, this is defentially one of those games that defentially deserves a complete overhaul rom hack to fix alot of this game's lousy problems.

also, for those who are curious, this is what the japanese box art looks like, which in japan, both the Super Famicom And Sega Mega Drive versions were called "Power Athlete"
