I had a bad sector error message during the first cutscene too, it doesn't crash the game it only breaks the cutscene. It happened both with the unmerged and merged bin files. Using EDCRE fixed the issue (ECCRegen doesn't work well on my linux laptop).
Normally I play using either PCSX ReARMed or Duckstation cores, both ran the cutscene just fine, I tested Beatle HW core (which runs slow on my device) and can confirm the second cutscene (first one with subtitles) gave me a Bad Sector error with messed up graphics, from what I can understand the cutscenes were edited to insert the English subtitles which I'm assuming it is clashing with Beatle HW core.

As I always do for myself I combined the files into one .bin file (and .cue file) using my trusty CDMage tool, works every time to combine multi .bin files, I use it for PS1, Sega Saturn and Sega CD games.

...I just had an epiphany. Part of the game's title ("Chou Kousoku") made me think of Sally/Risa from "Bofuri" and her "Super Speed" ("Chou Kousoku") skill.

Run the Track 1 bin through ECCRegen, worked fine for me afterwards.

Oh hell yeah, I was playing this title fairly recently and loved it, even wished I knew enough Japanese to read it. I can't believe it got an English fan translation.
We really are being spoiled by new fan translation of niche titles.

Just a heads-up, game gives "bad sector" error on a cutscene (broken graphics) after title menu while using Beetle HW in Retroarch, but goes to gameplay anyway.

I've created an eboot for this but haven't tested it yet (been playing Super Monkey Ball Banana Splitz and didn't feel like closing the app to transfer the file, I just keep the game running in sleep mode).

I only like 2D platformers but I only play games from the 5th gen. onward, so I really appreciate that.

You had me at "Developed by KID". Easily one of the most overlooked studios in existence. I really enjoyed "Pepsiman" and "Doki Doki Yuuenchi".

This looks interesting, I'd like an eboot version to play this on my PS Vita.

i need to watch ova before playing this

Thank you so much for sharing this hidden gem and exclusive to Japan for the PS1 and the English translation of this game is pretty good at least for the moment but still this game deserves a chance to play it.
