Baseball is literally my favorite sport, and I almost can't believe how much I enjoy it.

I have played baseball games on every console and I also play it IRL (pitcher and shortstop).

I used to be a HUGE Montreal Expos fan before MLB put an end to that... now I follow both the Blue Jays and Red Sox, but with nowhere near the passion.

What about you? Do you play the sport? Do you play baseball videogames? Who do you root for?

I love the sport, though I don't possess what could be called an encyclopedic knowledge of its history. I have a good grasp on the rules and a good game sense, though. The moment to moment is really special, as there is no other sport like it, and I love it for that.

Because I tend to love the underdog, I decided to root for the Chicago Cubs, and then one year later they win the World Series after a 100+ year drought, felt special, as if somehow my cheering made a difference, heh... of course I was just being delusional, but it was a great moment.

As for games, I'm still looking for that holy grail. I've no way to play The Show and the closest I have to an enjoyable baseball experience is Super Mega Baseball, but I got dishartened after they got bought off by EA, released a subpar sequel in SMB4, and are probably all but dead, now.

I tried getting into it when I was sorta in the phase of trying to expand my horizons by watching more real sports. I’d love to be more of an actual fan to sorta further justify owning an Yankees cap for all these years. (Besides the fact it’s a gift from my older brother which is good enough reason on its own obviously)

I feel that Baseball is one of those things that when it clicks, when it makes sense in your head, it's hard not to love, for many of the reasons I outlined above. It has so many unique and interesting things going for it:

- Uneven team presence on the field by design.
- Well ordered and structured action.
- Low rate of injury for the most part.
- Unique tempo (apparent lulls and explosive action often trade places)
- It is both an one on one and a team sport depending on the moment of play.
- Free of clock constraints for the most part.
- Game pace is entirely dependent on the performances of the offense and defense.
- Offense and defense take turns by design. Lack of back and forth means planning is required.

I could go on, really.

That’s awesome.
Time is what’s only going against me, not the actual sport.
If I got back into pro wrestling back in 2017, anything is possible.
And you could go on. I’m the right person to try and sell this stuff on. I’m all ears 👂

LOL, I'm dangerously overzealous when I speak of things I like, you see. There's just so many details. For example, I think it's neat that the baseball field is shaped unlike any other, too. Almost every sport has a rectangular field, a square field, some sort of regular, mirrored shape.

Baseball? nope, we do things our own way here, thank you very much.

Overzealousness is something I’d encourage. Need to meet someone who can match my energy.
That sounds really awesome. Any Japanese players you like? Actually there’s a guy I need to ask about, his name was….
Oh yeah! Legendary clip.

I only know Shohei Ohtani by virtue of him playing on the MLB, but the Japanese are certainly passionate about the sport, which I approve of.

Baseball is huge in Puerto Rico. We've adopted the American passtime as our own national sport due to the influence of being a territory of the US. Well, most of the Caribbean as well, Cuba and the Dominican Republic also are heavy baseball countries. We had many homegrown MLB stars over the years, Roberto Clemente being the most famous and successful. Currently, Francisco Lindor of the Mets and Carlos Correa of the Twins are the most prominent Puertorrican stars.

Fun fact, Puerto Rico was being considered as the new destination for the Montreal Expos when they were being moved, but we eventually lost out to Washington DC. Our stadium is smaller (can only house about 15,000 fans or so) and the location was deemed less convenient than DC. Oh well, it would've been fun to have an MLB team. One can dream.

Weirdly enough, I am a Mariners fan. My father is a Yankees fan and I picked up the Mariners in the 90's because of Edgar Martinez and Ken Griffey Jr. and to have a fun rivarly with my dad. Also loved Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball game for the SNES. Unfortunately it was a cursed decision as the Mariners have been one of the worst teams in baseball since then. We did have Ichiro Suzuki for a few years and Nintendo owned the team, which was kind of fun but other than that it has been painful.
